The client required installation, commissioning and ongoing operation and maintenance of a VSAT communication system onboard two existing vessels.

About the Client

Project Overview

AST Networks Australia was chosen via tender by the client to create an end to end satellite communication solution and ongoing service and support for their expanding fleet.

AST Networks Australia provided a long term integrated VSAT solution on both vessels (REM Etive, Havilla Harmony) consisting of dual switching (2 per vessel), SeaTel 4009 KuBand antennas and high grade bandwidth for the Australasia region on the GE23 Satellite.

Client Requirements

The client required installation, commissioning and ongoing operation and maintenance of a VSAT communication system onboard two existing vessels.

Both vessels are predominantly operate in the Asia Pacific region, however coverage for all other regions (Europe and Africa) were also required.

Our Solution

AST Networks Australia provided a long term integrated VSAT solution on both vessels consisting of dual switching (2 per vessel), SeaTel 4009 Ku Band antennas and high grade bandwidth for the Australasia region on the GE23 Satellite.

AST Networks Australia also provided a content management solution known as the Satellite Communication Optimiser (SCO) allowing the vessel operator total control of their communications link preventing unwanted or inappropriate use. The client were therefore able to preserve the bandwidth capabilities for priority applications and further controlling costs.

Furthermore AST Australia delivered a Thrane & Thrane Inmarsat FleetBroadband for remote technical support and out of band management.
