Hughes 9203 BGAN Patrol is a compact, lightweight communications-on-the-move (COTM) solution designed for mission-critical connectivity for military personnel, government agencies and emergency services that operate/deploy on foot.

This manpackable class 3 satcom terminal utilises Inmarsat's well proven and reliable BGAN service, coupled with an omnidirectional satcom antenna it provides up to 200 kbps throughput via ethernet or Wi-Fi. It delivers a highly stable connection on-the-move (OTM), including at speeds up to 40 km/h during trials on a quad bike.

For example, Military, Government or Emergency services can benefit from improved situational awareness, maximising coordination in MedEvac sceanrios, as well as bridging of Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) and BLOS radio networks.

Military users can connect to on-field Battle Management Systems (BMS) like Tactical Assault Kit (TAK) and SitaWare, for Blue Force Tracking (BFT) to reduce risk of friendly fire and general vulnerability in the field.

For any teams/personnel, such as Border patrols or Firefighters (Bushfires), deployed and operating in arduous remote locations where terrestrial / cell / mobile phone coverage is non-existent, the system enables continuous communication and coordination between personnel on the ground and the command centre during dynamic situations, like natural disasters, to reduce exposure during missions.
