Ylfa Jensdottir, a dedicated and talented Software Developer Apprentice with AST Networks, emerged as a runner-up in the 'Apprentice of the Year' category, marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning career.

The DevelopHer Awards, renowned for recognising and celebrating the accomplishments of women in the technology and digital sectors, held its highly anticipated ceremony on 16th November 2023 at Epic TV studios in Norwich. The event brought together professionals, leaders, and influencers from across the industry to honour outstanding contributions and achievements.

Ylfa distinguished herself among an impressive group of nominees, showcasing not only her exceptional technical skills but also her commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Ylfa embarked upon a new career path of software development with AST Networks in 2022 after establishing a career in Photography. While she didn't secure the top spot in the 'Apprentice of the Year' category, her nomination stands as a testament to her dedication and the positive impact she has made at AST Networks.

"We are incredibly proud of Ylfa for her outstanding achievement as a runner-up at the DevelopHer Awards," said Gary White, CEO at AST Networks. "Her passion for excellence, coupled with her relentless pursuit to grow her knowledge, has not only made a significant impact on our projects but has also inspired her colleagues. This recognition, though not the ultimate win, is well-deserved, and we look forward to witnessing her continued success within our organisation."

Ylfa’s nomination comes two years after colleague Sally Thacker’s nomination, who won this award in 2021. These achievements reflect AST Networks' commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace, where talent is recognised and rewarded. The company remains dedicated to providing opportunities for professional growth and ensuring that all employees can thrive in a supportive environment.

"I am truly honoured and grateful to have been recognised as a runner-up for the 'Apprentice of the Year' award at the DevelopHer Awards," expressed Ylfa Jensdottir. "This acknowledgment motivates me to continue pushing boundaries, challenging myself, and contributing to the growth of both AST and the broader industry. I have worked so hard for the last year and a half, and I've learned so much along the way, but to have other people notice your hard work feels truly spectacular. I am thankful for the support and opportunities provided by AST and excited about the possibilities that lie ahead."

AST extends its congratulations to Ylfa on this well-deserved industry recognition, and the entire organisation looks forward to witnessing her continued success in her career journey.
